CHESTER CITY are still awaiting a response from Vauxhall Motors, following their bid of £30,000 for striker Paul Taylor.
City tabled the offer on Wednesday evening and it is understood that the Rivacre Park club will give a response in the next 24 hours.
Taylor is one of a number of players who have been targeted by City manager Simon Davies, and another being the Bangor City striker Ashley Stott.
Chester owner Stephen Vaughan said: “Obviously, we hope that Vauxhall will accept our offer, because Paul is the type of player who Simon considers would complement our squad.
“However, if the deal doesn’t transpire, then there are a number of other options open to us.”
City are understood to be interested in a forward who was on the books of a Premier League club recently, and another player who was with a League Two outfit last season.
Meanwhile, Chester have “exercised their options” to keep striker Chris Holroyd and defender Sean Newton.
Chester have confirmed the dates of four of their pre-season games. They are:
Southport (a) July 15; Carlisle (h) July 22; Swansea (h) July 31; Telford (a) August 2.
