Davies looking for a good cup run from Chester City

CHESTER CITY will take a break from league action this evening when they take on Morecambe in the second round of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at the Deva Stadium.

City meekly surrendered their five-game unbeaten run at the weekend, when they lost 2-0 to Lincoln City and tonight’s match gives the side an opportunity to quickly bounce back after the unacceptable performance against the Imps.

“We have got to quickly put the Lincoln game behind us and focus on a competition that we have a realistic opportunity of winning and of course gives the finalists a day out at Wembley,” said City manager Simon Davies. “We will treat this competition with respect and select a full strength side for the game.

“Morecambe are like us, they will be giving it their all and we know that they will be difficult opponents. We didn’t compete as I know we can against Lincoln, so we have to get back to the sort of form that earned us positive results against Shrewsbury Town and Luton.”

Defender Kevin Roberts returns to the squad, after missing the weekend match against Lincoln because of suspension. Tonight’s game kicks off at 7pm and all juniors under 16 years of age will be admitted to the game free of charge if they attend the match with an adult, who pays the reduced admission price of £10.
