CHESTER CITY’S leading scorer Ryan Lowe is expected to hand in a transfer request in the next few days, following City’s relegation to non-League football.
The 30-year-old striker has been in outstanding form this season, registering 18 goals, and he sees his future in the Football League as opposed to Conference football.
He said: “I signed for Chester on the basis of the club looking for promotion and trying to get Chester into League One, unfortunately that hasn’t been the case and it’s gone the other way. But I’ll sit down with the owner and the manager.
“I’m not going to discuss my future just yet but after the season finishes (on Saturday) I’ll be sitting down and having a chat.
“I’ve been through the experience of relegation while I was at Shrewsbury and it’s not nice. Relegation has been on the cards at Chester for a long time and we just haven’t been good enough.”
Lowe added: “It’s not up to me to comment about the situation that Chester were put in during the course of the season. If you’re playing football, you should go out there and give it all you’ve got.
“I feel we have tried to do that along the way and it’s just unfortunate that we haven’t been good enough.”
It is understood that Crewe Alexandra and Macclesfield have been monitoring Lowe’s situation.
