CHESTER City wrap up their season against Darlington at the Deva Stadium tomorrow, but more importantly they bid what they hope will be a temporary farewell to the Football League.
Barring a mathematical miracle, City will be playing Conference Football next season, so they will be keen to finish this dreadful campaign with a victory.
Since he took over at the end of last year, Chester manager Mark Wright has had to cope with a farcically small squad of young hopefuls, never will be’s, and a couple of experienced professionals.
However, he has rarely complained, and has performed an exceptional job in keeping City’s survival hopes alive until the penultimate weekend of the season.
“We have now got to be positive and endeavour to win our last match against Darlington. There were a couple of tears in the dressing room at Aldershot last week, so we have got to pick ourselves up and get on with things.”
Wright added: “This game will provide the players with a platform to show exactly what they can do. We have to put the memory of the probable relegation behind us, and show that we have the ability to bounce back.”
City are likely to be without midfielder Kevin Ellison, who is suffering from a hamstring injury, and Ritchie Partridge who has a calf strain.
Defender James Vaughan is missing andwill join an Australian junior side on a free transfer next week.
