CHESTER CiTY’S leading scorer Ryan Lowe last night became a free agent, after agreeing to a mutual cancellation of his three-year contract with the Deva Stadium outfit.
The 30-year-old Liverpudlian who was presented with the club’s Player of the Season award earlier this month, is now free to negotiate a deal with one of the trio of clubs who have shown interest in acquiring his services.
Lowe, who joined Chester last summer from Crewe Alexandra, expressed a desire to stay in the Football League after City’s relegation to non-League football was confirmed 10 days ago.
Bury, Rochdale, and Oldham Athletic are all reportedly interested in signing the player.
Meanwhile, City midfielder Kevin Ellison, who signed his release papers on Tuesday, has agreed to sign for Rotherham United subject to passing a medical with the Yorkshire club.
The former Tranmere Rovers and Hull City player is expected to sign a two year deal with the Millers.
The player exodus from the Deva Stadium could continue today, with central defender Paul Linwood also expected to be released.
Linwood has been linked with Macclesfield and York City.
