CHESTER CITY, who exited financial administration last week, have offered seats on their board of directors to the club’s four supporters’ associations.
Each organisation will be asked for donations to assist the club during next season’s Blue Square Premier campaign, and if the associations agree to the offer, they will be invited to take up their seats with immediate effect.
City owner Stephen Vaughan said last night: “I stated when we came out of administration that I wanted the supporters’ involvement with the club, and hopefully they will take up this offer.”
Meanwhile Vaughan poured cold water on recent reports in a Scottish newspaper, that former City assistant manager Malcolm Thompson, was to return to the Deva Stadium backroom staff.
Thompson, who worked alongside former City boss Bobby Williamson, left City to take up a similar position with Inverness Caledonian Thistle, stating that he was missing his native Scotland. However, Vaughan said: “I really don’t know where these reports come from, we have a manager currently, and I can categorically say that Mr Thompson will definitely not be returning to Chester City.”
Chester are expected to start rebuilding their squad for the new campaign in the next seven days, with midfield players Paul Bolland and Jamie Tolley understood to be two of the players who are under review.
Bolland formerly played for Grimsby Town, whilst Tolley has previously been with Shrewsbury Town and Macclesfield Town.
In another development, former City manager Graham Barrow is expected to join Wigan as reserve team manager in the next few days.
