THE Chester City owner Stephen Vaughan is to have talks with manager Mark Wright tomorrow to formulate the club’s plans for the forthcoming Blue Square Premier League campaign.
Wright returns from a trip with the former Liverpool Players Association today, and following the club’s exit from financial administration last week, Vaughan is keen to push ahead with plans for the new season.
Vaughan said: “Mark has been given a financial budget for the new season, and I want to see which players he has targeted.
“I already know some of the players he has in mind, but we will have to be extremely careful this season, every member of the playing squad must contribute, which hasn’t always been the case in previous years.”
It is understood that former Rochdale goalkeeper James Spencer, who had a spell on loan at the Deva Stadium last season, is one of the players under consideration.
Meanwhile Chester have been informed that their central funding for the club’s School of Excellence has been halved as a result of their relegation from the Football League.
In another development Ian Anderson of Anderson & Co, Solicitors, have agreed a deal to become City’s shirt sponsor for the forthcoming season. The company have agreed an initial 12-month contract with the option of a further season.
Sales of season tickets for the new campaign have picked up this week following the club’s uncertainty.
Vaughan said: “Sales have been quite brisk which is encouraging, and fans have been taking advantage of the cut price initiative that is currently on offer.”
