CHESTER CITY last night completed the signing of Uruguayan midfielder Fabian Yantorno.
The 26-year-old South American, whose last two clubs have been Scottish Premier League outfits Gretna and Hibernian, turned down a move to a top Mexican league club in order to join City.
International clearance appears to be a formality, as the player holds dual Italian and Uruguayan citizenship.
Speaking after the deal was completed, City owner Stephen Vaughan said: “Mick Wadsworth has worked with this player before, and he knows only too well the flair and pace he possesses.
“We are sure that he will be one of the stars of this season.”
Yantorno is expected to be included in the Chester squad to take on Marine at College Road on Sarturday.
City also agreed terms last night with the former Preston North End goalkeeper Andrew Murray.
Despite making six signings so far this week, manager Wadsworth is keen to keep his wage bill within the fiscal constraints handed to him.
He said: “That’s important now to keep ourselves out of trouble.
“We have to maintain a level of outgoing that we can sustain, so if that means working with a few more young players then that is not a huge problem.”
Former Bradford defender Mark Bower could well complete his move to the Deva Stadium in the next 48 hours.
