Chester City trialist Glynn Hurst to get his chance at Marine

CHESTER CITY play their first senior pre-season friendly match of the summer tomorrow, when they travel to Crosby to face Marine at College Road.

City manager Mick Wadsworth has been active in the transfer market this week, adding six players to the small squad he inherited.

Wadsworth is expected to give all of his squad a run-out at some point during the game, as well as utilising the match to assess a number of trialists, as he builds up to the new Blue Square Premier League campaign which starts at Grays Athletic on Saturday, August 8.

One of the trialists trying to earn a contract at the Deva is former Stockport County and Chesterfield striker, Glynn Hurst, who was released by Bury at the end of last season.

“Glynn has been training with us this week and having worked with him before, I know what he can do. We will see how he does in a match situation and then decide whether to take things further.

“These games are basically about gaining fitness, with new players also getting to know their new team-mates,” said Wadsworth.

Chester’s first home friendly in their build-up campaign is next Tuesday night, when a Liverpool XI visit the Deva Stadium.

There is a possibility that one or two of Rafael Benitez’s first-team squad, who didn’t travel to Europe with the rest of the senior party, may be given a run-out on Tuesday.
