THE Chester City owner Stephen Vaughan was upbeat last night about the Conference club’s chances of obtaining the vital affiliation to the Football Association.
City fans had naturally been concerned, following a succession of refusals by the FA to grant affiliation, which is essential if the club are to start the forthcoming campaign.
“We have had a number of discussions with officials from the FA who have been extremely helpful. They require us to provide confirmation that our existing leases have been transferred to our new company, they also want cash flow projections, guarantees that we can meet our liabilities, and assurances that all football debts will be met in full.
“We will provide all this information in the next 48 hours and hopefully we will then be granted our affiliation” said Vaughan.
He continued: “We have also received a letter from the chief executive of the Conference, who requires various assurances by August 3. Naturally we will send the details that are requested, and give the assurances that are needed.”
City are due to play a pre-season match against Droylsden this Saturday.
