Chester City still searching for first points in Blue Square Premier League campaign

CHESTER are still searching for the first points of their Blue Square Premier League campaign, after they lost 4-0 against Oxford United at the Kassam Stadium last night.

The alarming thing about the two opening reversals is that the side have now shipped eight goals which doesn’t make pleasant reading at any level of football.

If Chester are to give themselves even a moderate chance of catching the pack after their punitive deduction of 25 points, they must bring experienced players into the club either on loan or permanently quickly.

The performance last night was something of deju vu after Saturday’s reversal against Cambridge United. In the first half City competed adequately and were still in it at 0-0, but then they visibly tired in the second period as Oxford took a stranglehold on proceedings.

Again one of the opposition registered a hat-trick, James Constable netting three and Matt Green the other.

CHESTER: Danby, Roberts, Ryan, Platt, Meynell (Rule 77), Wilkinson (Allinson 90), Vaughan, Lea, Ashton, Chadwick, Ellams (Owen 66). Subs: Murphy, Kelly.

ATT: 5,135.
