Chester bid to build on Histon win

CHESTER City will be aiming to record back to back wins tonight when they face Tamworth at the Deva Stadium.

City registered their first victory of the campaign at the weekend, when they defeated Histon 2-0 and manager Mick Wadsworth is hoping for a repeat of that performance.

He said: “We have to make sure that last Saturday’s result wasn’t a flash in the pan.

“We have set a standard and that level of performance must be maintained.

“On the positive side it must be remembered that we have only lost once in the past four matches and we are steadily building towards eroding the points deduction.”

On-loan striker Lewis Alessandra won’t be involved tonight. Wadsworth said: “Lewis has gone back to Oldham for treatment on the ankle ligament damage he sustained at the weekend.

“We won’t know the extent of the problem until the swelling subsides.

“Youngster Lloyd Ellams will come into the squad to replace Lewis.”

The City manager continued: “Our squad is extremely thin at the moment, so hopefully we may bring a couple of loan players into the club in the next week or so to bolster our numbers.”

Striker Gregg Blundell is expected to be included in the starting line-up following three substitute appearances in the last three matches and defender Shaun Kelly is likely to continue as one of the substitutes.
