THE facial injury sustained by Chester City midfielder Ben Wilkinson isn’t as bad as first thought and the player returned to training with the rest of the squad yesterday.
It had been feared that the former York City player may have broken his nose following an accidental kick in the face during the weekend win at Gateshead. However, City manager Jim Harvey revealed last night that the injury wasn’t serious.
“Ben has just suffered a bad graze on the side of his face and on the bridge of his nose, thankfully nothing is broken,” he said.
“He has trained and will be available for Saturday’s FA Cup tie at Barrow.”
Meanwhile, a delegation from the Football Association visited the Deva Stadium yesterday to ensure that the preparations for next month’s England under-16 Victory Shield international were progressing satisfactorily.
England’s youngsters will be facing Northern Ireland (kick-off 7.40pm) and the match will be televised live on Sky Sports.
