Chester could be on the verge of expulsion from the Blue Square Premier League over allegations about football creditors

CHESTER City could be on the verge of being thrown out of the Blue Square Premier League, after the league issued an ultimatum on their website last night.

City, who have lurched from crisis to crisis over the past 18 months, are alleged to have failed to inform the Conference of all their football creditors and meet agreed payment dates of those debts.

The allegations also state they failed to send ticket moneys to Wrexham for a recent derby match, and failed to settle a financial agreement with Vauxhall Motors, which was due following the loan period that drug cheat Paul Taylor spent at the Deva Stadium.

In what appeared to be an act of frustration over the apparent lack of response from Chester regarding the issues, the Conference issued an unprecedented statement on their website highlighting the issues.

The statement also said that a transfer embargo had been imposed on City, and there was also a threat of expulsion from the league if matters weren’t settled by 5pm on Monday. A source from the Conference said: “We are totally frustrated by the attitude and lack of mature responses from Chester, and hopefully this statement will bring matters to a head.”

Chester owner Stephen Vaughan said: “We are owed £134,000 by the Football League and Conference and this money will be utilised to pay our footballing creditors.” When asked about financial guarantees that had been put in place, should football creditors not be paid, by October 14, Vaughan retorted: “Let them call them in.”

The crisis means that a proposed temporary loan transfer of a striker from a Premier League club has been scuppered, prior to City’s visit to Barrow in the FA Cup on Saturday. Ironically, Vaughan was a previous owner of the Holker Street outfit.

Meanwhile, City’s youngsters will meet Morecambe on Tuesday, November 3 in the first round proper of the FA Youth Cup. The match will be played at the Deva Stadium (kick off 7pm).

City beat Thackley 4-0 in the final qualifying round on Tuesday with goals from Cormack Leigh, Ben Whitcombe, Shaun Breen and Sam Coulter.
