CHESTER CITY manager Jim Harvey received some good and bad news yesterday as he prepares his squad for Saturday’s visit to Grays Athletic in a Blue Square Premier League encounter.
Centre-back Shaun Kelly has stepped up his training, but defender Michael Lea and midfield player Anthony Barry are extremely doubtful for the trip to Essex. Harvey said: “Shaun Kelly has completed all the training sessions this week, and he appears to be back to full fitness which is a major plus for us.
“However, Anthony Barry must be considered as extremely doubtful. I arranged for him to receive treatment from Les Parry at Tranmere but unfortunately he is experiencing soreness in the tendon behind the knee.
“Michael Lea is also struggling with a groin problem.”
The City manager has masterminded victories in Chester’s last two League outings against Gateshead and AFC Wimbledon, and he is keen to make it a hat-trick of three pointers on Saturday afternoon.
He said: “My job is to get the players playing as a unit and it all came together last weekend against Wimbledon.
“The lads set a high standard, the substitutions worked well for us and now we must replicate that sort of performance at Grays, because it will be a tough place to go and record a positive result.”
THE Deva Stadium hosts international football tonight.
England under-16s entertain Northern Ireland in a Victory Shield encounter.
The game kicks off at 7.40pm and admission is £5 for adults and £1 for concessions.
