THE next five days could prove to be a defining period in the history of Chester City.
Monday is the deadline set by the Football Conference, which instructs the Deva Stadium outfit to pay the majority of their outstanding football-related debts while this weekend sees the loan transfers of two of their players coming to an end, and these temporary deals must be renewed early next week if the players are to don a City shirt again.
The Conference, who appear to have been extremely helpful during these troubled times for City, extended last month’s deadline for payment of the club’s football debts, but they will expect businesslike solutions to be forthcoming next Monday, otherwise they could carry out their threat to expel City from the Blue Square Premier League.
It is understood that monies owed to Wrexham, Vauxhall Motors and the PFA are debts that need to be settled, on or before Monday’s deadline.
Blackburn Rovers’ central defender Jonathan Flynn and Barnsley midfielder Michael Coulson are the players whose temporary deals come to an end this weekend. The pair have played a major part in City’s recent playing renaissance, which has seen the side win three of its last four matches.
CITY Fans United are holding a Legends Night on December 3, at Divas Showbar in Station Road, Chester.
A host of former Chester players including Graham Barrow, Eddie Bishop and Andy Milner are expected to be in attendance. Tickets priced at £8 can be obtained from Dave Cartwright on 07943 495841.
