Chester lose Clark Keltie as players threaten a revolt

CHESTER CITY last night lost the services of influential midfielder Clark Keltie when they failed to renew the player’s loan agreement with League Two club Rochdale.

Keltie becomes the third loan player whom City have failed to extend deals with in the past 10 days. Blackburn Rovers’ defender Jonathan Flynn and Barnsley winger Michael Coulson left the Deva Stadium earlier this month after Chester failed to find the finances to prolong the temporary transfers.

The loss of the impressive Keltie will come as another severe blow to manager Jim Harvey, who is being expected to prepare competitive sides despite the soap opera that is continually unfolding behind the scenes at the Deva.

The club’s obtuse financial affairs mean that a transfer embargo has been imposed on City. The under-achieving squad appears to be diminishing on a weekly basis and last night a player revealed to the Daily Post that certain members of the playing squad were considering refusing to play in this Saturday’s game against Eastbourne Borough if outstanding monies weren’t paid to them.

City face possible expulsion from the Blue Square Premier League if outstanding football related debts aren’t satisfactorily addressed by next Monday.

Meanwhile, City Fans United recently announced the launch of a Junior Blues section in a bid to increase the number of young people supporting Chester City and attracting a new generation of fans.

Since then they have had a tremendous response and are still taking applications for new members from youngsters who are aged under 16.

For £5 each child receives an induction package worth over £20, however, to receive this before Christmas applications need to be received by Friday, December 4.
