Chester City lose to Ebbsfleet United as season woes continue

CHESTER CITY slipped to yet another Blue Square Premier League defeat on Saturday, as this depressing season staggers on from crisis to crisis.

With droves of supporters boycotting matches at the Deva Stadium because of the continued ownership of the club by Stephen Vaughan Junior, the attendance at the weekend was a mere 460.

Saturday’s match saw City’s youngsters turn in an improved performance from their last outing, but in the end the greater experience and know-how of the visitors saw them home.

Chester actually took the lead, when 17-year-old Jack Rea swept the ball home from the edge of the area on the half-hour.

However two goals in a three-minute spell just before the break proved to be pivotal.

Magno Vieira registered both goals, the first after 41 minutes, then a great bit of work on the edge of the City area culminated in the Brazilian striker hammering the ball home past the despairing dive of John Danby for what proved to be the match-winner.

CHESTER CITY: Danby, Rule, Kelly, Roberts, Lea, Rea, Wilkinson, Meynell, Coulter, Ellams (Rawlinson 86), Jones (Davidson 53). Subs: Murphy, Freeman, Whitcomb.
