Head of Danish consortium Palle Rasmussen speaks on hopes and aspirations for takeover of Chester City

THE head of the Danish consortium who have reached an agreement with the Vaughan family to take over crisis club Chester City last night spoke of his hopes and aspirations for the Deva Stadium outfit.

Agreement was reached during a meeting at the Deva Stadium on Saturday, when Chester Projekt.dk brokered a deal to purchase the Football Conference outfit.

Palle Rasmussen, who is leading the Danish group, said: “We are well aware of the problems that the club currently has, but we have done our homework and we have a detailed business plan which will enable us to rectify the current issues.

“We would hope to have concluded a deal with the Vaughan family in seven to 21 days’ time. The Vaughan family will not be involved with the club after our completion of the purchase.”

Rasmussen revealed that he had met the club’s largest supporters group prior to his meeting with Vaughan and his advisors at the weekend. He added: “We met the CFU at a pre-arranged meeting, then after our meeting with the Vaughans we went back to talk to them about the proposals, but they wouldn’t meet us which was disappointing.

“Our plan involves developing local youth players and we have already had discussions with local coaches about our plans as well as somebody from the local council. It could be that we bring a few Danish players over to supplement the squad.”

The Danish businessman and his group went on national Danish television last night to explain the potential takeover. Rasmussen told his countrymen that his group consisted of around 500 investors from all walks of life in Denmark, all of whom have a love of English football.

Chester face expulsion from the Blue Square Premier League if they don’t meet outstanding financial commitments this week to their football creditors and HM Revenue and Customs.

Conference clubs will meet on Friday in Northamptonshire to discuss the management committee’s proposal that City should be kicked out of the league.
