WEST CHESHIRE AC experienced mixed emotions in their latest and hectic back-to-back programme.
The senior Northern Track and Field League squad won their opening round staged at Stanney, Ellesmere Port, but the club’s Youth Athletes League team suffered a heavy defeat in the Northern Premier Division outing at Blackburn.
Dave McKay headed the Northern League charge with a hat-trick of throwing victories after hitting 11.73m in the shot, 40.85m in the hammer, and 65.06m in the javelin.
He was supported by B shot winner Richard Stocker (10.30m), B hammer winner Andrew McKay (38.67m), and B discus winner Carl Van Schie (36.13m). Nicola Gore continued the successful throwing theme by clinching victories from the discus (37.84m), shot (10.78m), and B Javelin (26.94m), alongside Emily Fisher who won the javelin with a new personal best of 34.02m.
Sian Kelman (5.08m) and Emily Clarke (4.74m) won their long jump competitions, and Sian was second in the triple jump (9.87m) while Emily won the B triple jump (9.61m).
Sam Galley (12.7) and Shona Valentine (26.3) won the B 100m and B 200m respectively, and Sam and Shona then joined Rachel Stoakley and Sian Kelman to post a time of 51.6 seconds for victory in the 4x100m relay.

Aamir Walwyn strided his way to success in driving rain with a time of 53.8 seconds in the under 17 men’s 400m at Blackburn.
He was joined by Tom Booth who won the 400m hurdles in 62.3.

FIXTURES: Cheshire Track and Field Championships, on Saturday and Sunday, at Stanney Oaks, Ellesmere Port, (10.30am start), and the Christleton 5k Road Race on Friday.
