Cycling: Liverpool star wins Espoirs section

LIVERPOOL’S Matt Brammeier, currently riding for the Belgium team Profel, has won the Espoirs section of the British Time Trial Championship.

He completed the 18-mile course at Holmes Chapel, Cheshire in 38 minutes 26 seconds with an average 28.219mph, beat this nearest rival by 50 seconds. Ormskirk’s James Stewart, Team KFS Sunday, who has also been living in Belgium was fourth in 39.22, just beating his team mate and fifth-placed Dafydd Dylan by three seconds says the provisional result.

Liverpool Mercury RC’s Mark McNally was fifth in the Junior category with 40.54.

British Road Race Champion, David Millar, Saunier Duval won the men’s 28 miles event in 56.57 beating Chris Newton, Recycling.co.uk by 1 minute 32 seconds.
