Sailing: Mersey come out on top in cup

LIVERPOOL YACHT CLUB went ahead with their Annual Commodores Cup race on the Mersey during yet another weather hit weekend.

Royal Mersey came out on top in Musketeer.

Wallasey were runners-up in Another Nods with West Kirby third in Flash II.

The Hoylake weekend programme was called off but West Kirby raced in a stiff breeze on the Dee Estuary.

John Burthem posted two wins in the Falcons aboard Hawk.

There were Hilbre successes for Peter Bramley in Hicotee and Gerald Riley in Highlight whilst Star successes were gained by Ian Eccles in Capella and John Watkin in Stella.
