WEST CHESHIRE AC’s throwers put their weight behind impressive performances at their end-of-season promotion match.
But it was not enough to prevent the squad finishing seventh and last with 289 points.
Nicola Gore partnered Stephanie Owens to a string of victories at the Northern League promotion match at Wavertree
Gore spun the discus to a club record mark of 41.17m to merit maximum points alongside Owens, who secured 35.48m for success in the B event.
Owens won the hammer with a throw of 40.81m and Gore claimed a B event victory with a new personal best of 34.53m.
Gore then added top spot in the shot with a put of 10.60m, and bagged a new best of 28.38m in the javelin alongside Emily Fisher who finished fourth with 28.45m.
Brothers Dave and Andrew McKay starred in the men’s throwing events.
Dave launched the javelin to a winning mark of 60.72m and Andrew cemented a B event success with a throw of 41.81m, and pocketed top spot in the B hammer (34.95m) alongside Dave, who finished third overall (38.83m).
Dave (11.85m) and Andrew (10.49m) also finished second in the A and B shot competition respectively.
Other performances of note included Shona Valentine’s B 200m win of 27.5 seconds, Bryony Potter’s B 400m of 62.3 for second spot, Alex Haswell’s 2.01.9 run in the 800m for fourth place, and Dave Alexander’s 4.27.0 run in the 1,500m for fourth spot.

* ALICE JENNINGS cleared a grade one height of 1.50m to capture victory in the under-13s girls high jump at Stanney Oaks, Ellesmere Port.
The multi-talented West Cheshire youngster starred in her club’s final round of the Cheshire Track and Field League.
Alice added a comfortable 800m victory of 2.47.0 immediately before she headed for the high jump event.
She was joined in the U13s girls ranks by Kelly Baker, Olivia Montez-Brown, Bryony Archdeacon, 800m winner Tessa McCormick (2.35.7), Lydia Perry, Laura Rigby, and Amy Newnes.
Abie France, Georgina Barlow, Eloise Edwards, Laura Jones, and Sophie Baker scored points for the under-11s girls team.
Oliver Ashworth, Elliot Rollins, Alex Kirk, Elliott Long, Robert Rogers, James McMahon, James Butler, and Dominic Hadley lined up for the U11s boys.
The U13s boys quartet of Adam Howell, Joseph O’Riordan, Alex Williams, and Simon Rollins secured success in their relay and 100m individual races, and Tadgh Gregory, and Michael Willis provided support.
