Community Sport: Wirral gears up for rally action

THIS weekend sees the return of rallying to Wirral when the 2007 Printmatters Promenade Stages Rally rolls into town.

Organised by Wallasey Motor Club, the rally is a real crowd puller at the unique New Brighton 'closed road' rally circuit, drawing competitors from as far as Ireland and the Isle of Man.

An abundance of top rally car machinery is amongst the 90 cars entered and 2006 rally winner Chris Davis heads the field in his purpose-built Darrian T90 rally car.

Eleven-time Promenade winner John Price is hot on his heels in his 300 horsepower MG metro 6R4.

New for this year is the rally’s support of Wirral’s St John’s Hospice in Wirral through a raffle, offering the opportunity for spectators to win the chance to drive four of the world’s top supercars.

Tickets are on sale on the day and are priced at £1.
