Sailing: Bay beauty for open race winner Myerscough

LIVERPOOL Yacht Club craft took the first three places in the Blundellsands Sailing Club Altmouth Cup open race over a Liverpool Bay course.

John Myerscough who is also a member of Blundellsands headed the fleet in his Sadler 32 Catch 32. Nick Ogden was runner-up in Ulula with Richard Baldwin third in Tango.

Class winners in the first of the Liverpool Early Autumn Series races on the Mersey were Jenevieve (Mark Blanchard), Flash II (Adam Kyffin) and Tango.

West Kirby beat neighbouring Hoylake by a single point in a Falcon team event on the Dee Estuary.

At Hoylake the last of the Opera Offshore races was claimed by Gavin Melling in La Tosca.

The Wirral and Mersey Regattas Committee staged their annual prizegiving at a packed Hoylake club.
