Sailing: Lake’s rough finish

SAILING: There was a rough finish to the West Lancashire Yacht Club Twenty-Four Hour race on Southport Lake as the wind increased considerably.

There were many capsizes and lots of reports of damaged gear.

Prolific winners Bolton Sailing Club did it again in a GP 14, completing 84 laps in the time available.

GP’s claimed the top three places with a two-man team from Hollingworth Lake Sailing Club the runners-up and Burwain third.
