Badminton: Badminton coup

BADMINTON: Liverpool has been chosen as the host for the 2009 Badminton European Mixed Team Championships.

The Championships will be held in the newly-opened Echo Arena and they will take place from February 9-15 next year.

This will be the first time that Liverpool has staged a major badminton tournament and Tom Bacher, president of Badminton Europe, said: “We believe that the venue in Liverpool will be an ideal arena for the promotion of badminton.”
