Hockey: Bowdon beaten

HOCKEY: Bowdon Hightown lost to defending champions Slough in the final of the National Indoor Hockey Championships.

In a repeat of the 2007 final, Slough prevailed 5-2 at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham. Hightown led 2-0 through captain Sally Walton and Lyndsey French but could not hold off Slough’s fightback.

In the semIs Hightown scored a remarkable win over Ipswich, who fought back from 6-1 down to level before Annalisa Bishop grabbed the winning goal. Tina Cullen scored four times.
