Swimming: Halsall’s record

SWIMMING: Southport teenager Fran Halsall lowered her own British Record in the Women’s 100m Freestyle just hours after completing a 12-hour trip home from America.

The City of Liverpool swimmer returned from a four-week camp in Florida and 48 hours later posted a time of 54.53 to win the Burns Open Meet in Sheffield.

Ben Titley of the Loughborough-based training group said: “The fact Fran broke another record is a testament to the City of Liverpool programme under Colin Stripe who is creating the next generation of world class athletes in Britain.”
