Athletics: Alice goes to town to help treble title haul

WEST CHESHIRE AC secured a hat-trick of team titles at the North West Sportshall League Finals at Wigan.

The Chester and Ellesmere Port-based club were successful in the under-13s girls, U13s boys and under-15s boys team events, while the under-11s boys team picked up bronze medals. The U11s girls and U15s girls teams both finished fifth.

Alice McMahon won gold in the U13s girls two lap final (23.7 seconds), silver in the standing long jump and vertical jump, and then joined Alice Jennings, Jenni Potter, and Jenna Sheehy for glory in the relay.

Alice Jennings won gold in the four lap final, and bronze in the shot (8.83m), while Joanne Hope won the speed bounce. Kelly Baker and Olivia Montez-Brown combined for victory in the eight lap parlaaf.

Lucy Earl (80 in speed bounce) and Kelly Baker (7.95m in shot)produced new personal bests alongside other key squad members Laura Rigby, Lydia Perry, and Kelsey Hepple.

Joseph O’Riordan pocketed U13s boys gold medals from the speed bounce, shot (9m), and silver in the six lap.

Adam Howell produced gold performances in the standing triple jump, four lap, and vertical jump, while Oliver Wedgewood delivered gold in the standing long jump, two lap, and vertical jump.

The quartet of O’Riordan, Gregory, Wedgewood, and Howell, cruised to success in the relay.

Aidan Stoakley scored an impressive U15s boys two-lap final success and added gold in the speed bounce with a score of 87.
