Badminton: Sutton club celebrating their Silver status

SUTTON Junior Badminton Club is celebrating the news that it has been awarded the Silver Club Mark from Badminton England.

This confirms the club has strong coaching and effective management in place and takes equality and child protection issues seriously.

It achieved the award with the support of St Helens Council’s Sports Development Team.

Set up in September 2004 the club has 60 members ranging from beginners to advanced level including some county players.

It has two Y10 teams and three Y12 teams in the Liverpool League and one team in the Under-16s St Helens Junior League, who have won the league for two consecutive years.

The junior club runs at Queens Park Leisure Centre on a Saturday morning between 10am and 1pm and on a Wednesday evening at Sutton Leisure Centre between 7pm and 8pm.

The senior section was set up in May, initially with 12 members which has now grown to 35.

It gives juniors an opportunity to progress when they reach 16.

The section is a member of the St Helens & District Badminton League and has a team in the Mixed League and Men’s League. It runs at Sutton Leisure Centre on a Wednesday 8-10pm.
