RICHARD BATTERHAM was the first of seven West Cheshire AC members to complete the London Marathon.
The over-55 veteran completed the 26.2 miles through the streets of the capital in a time of three hours nine minutes 45 seconds.
He was joined in The Mall finishing area by club colleagues Michael Hobday, who posted 3:25:34, Tony Kennedy, who clocked 3:26:55, David Herrington, who posted 3:28:05, Clive Donovan in 3:30:11, Andy Hickmott, who negotiated the famous course in a time of 3:40:44, and Brian Beattie, in 3:39:39.
Three West Cheshire AC juniors represented Cheshire in the popular three miles Mini Marathon which also finished on The Mall.
Tessa McCormick finished third, while Kate Titlow, and Bradley Edwards also made the trip to stride out around the London course.
West Cheshire foursome Alice Jennings, Alice McMahon, Jenni Potter, and Joanne Hope helped Cheshire under-13s girls finish fourth in the team event at the UK Sportshall Finals, at Birmingham.
WEEKEND FIXTURES: The Melbourne Trophy Track and Field Meeting at Wavertree, Liverpool, on Saturday and Sunday.
West Cheshire AC open their Cheshire Track and Field League campaign with a first round match at Stockport's Woodbank Park on Sunday. A convoy of cars will meet at Cheshire Oaks High School, Ellesmere Port, on Sunday for 11.15am, or members should arrive at Stockport no later than 12.15pm for a 1pm start.
The annual West Cheshire AC Schools' Track and Field Cup will take place at Cheshire Oaks High School, Ellesmere Port, on Wednesday, April 23 (4pm start).
