CYCLING: In fine weather conditions, Jimmy Wright of Preston Wheelers won the Leigh Premier RC ten miles time trial on the D10/1 Rainford course in 20 minutes 27 seconds.

Stephen Ludden of the Forza Cycling was second out of the 70 riders to enter in 21.36 and Lancs RC’s John Bellamy was third with 21.42. Southport CC’s Dave Hilton was fourth. Forza Cycling won the team prize with Ludden, Dave Jones (22.25) and Greg Lunt (24.44), giving them a combined time of 1 hour 8 minutes 45 seconds.
