Adrian Morley's rally cry ahead of Castleford clash

WARRINGTON captain Adrian Morley has issued a rallying call ahead of tonight’s crucial clash with bottom club Castleford.

Wolves are facing another season of under-achievement after securing just one win from their last six matches, and coach Paul Cullen is under pressure as they seek to do the double over struggling Tigers at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Despite a brave performance in the Challenge Cup against holders St Helens, Warrington fans have become increasingly restless and Morley has made a plea for patience.

“When you’re up against it, that’s when you really get to know the people who stand by your side,” he said. “Team-mates, friends, family and supporters all play their part in making the player what he is.

“The game against Saints was a real blood-and-thunder affair. It shows how we play, with the passion and fight needed to compete for top-of-the-table rugby.

“Consistency is always the key to a successful team and the likes of Leeds and Saints have stumbled along the way. It’s how you bounce back and how those around you want you to succeed and compete that makes a big difference.

“Support is fundamental in everything we do – with each other, with our families and loved ones and with how we face life’s challenges. If everything was easy it would be a pretty boring world. The lows makes you appreciate the highs that much more.

“Taking to the field to the roar of the crowd lifts your game and, having played in Grand Finals in Australia and over here, I really appreciate the British crowd and especially the Warrington spectators.”

Castleford have yet to win away from home on their return to Super League but they lost only 34-31 at home to the Wolves in March and Morley is expecting a difficult test.

He added: “I’d love for our supporters to make some extra noise, bring their mates, their family, their passion.”

Morley, scrum-half Michael Monaghan and second-rower Ben Westwood, who were hurt in last week’s 38-14 defeat at Wigan, have been included in Cullen’s 19-man squad.
