Stratton’s first

SAILING: Bad weather hit the local Regatta programme at the weekend.

Royal Mersey Yacht Club called off River Mersey action in the deteriorating conditions but some racing did go ahead at Hoylake and on the Dee Estuary.

The Hoylake Operas enjoyed good competition in an offshore wind. Steve Stratton claimed first place in Fidelio. On the Dee, Richard Stacey steered his Spitfire into pole position in the Handicap Catamarans and the Handicap Dinghy prize went to Richard Fox in a Solo.
