Facebook lands teen in very hot water

SUMMER transfer sagas involving Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Barry have filled the long days with their twists and turns as agents, chairmen and even family members have contributed to the confusion.

One Championship player must have been keen not to befall the same fate and so diligently kept everyone updated as to his progress through social networking site Facebook.

Ashley-Paul Robinson has been with Crystal Palace for five years since becoming a teenager but was having a trial with Premier League side Fulham.

Helpfully last Saturday he told his 194 friends – and the 2.7m members of the London network who could view his updates – that “Ashley-Paul is goin fulham on monday” to be followed with “Ashley-Paul is travling 2 Bath With Fulham Fingers Crossed” and then, after his duplicity had been uncovered, “Ashley-Paul has been very naughty”.

Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock was not as amused as he suggested the errant footballer was now free to look for a new club.

If only Ronaldo and Barry had been as forthcoming we could have avoided the dull grind of the transfer rumour mill for the last couple of months.
