Promoted Oxton target title, while Birkenhead Park battle for safety

WITH all the Premiership issues resolved, principal interest in today’s final programme in the Right Move Abroad Cheshire County League centres on the First Division.

Although they are already assured of promotion, Oxton are desperately keen to wind up as champions and will need to score more points at home to Poynton than Didsbury, who host Upton. Both start on 347 points and while each have 10 wins, Didsbury currently nose ahead through having lost fewer games. Didsbury’s promotion was confirmed this week.

At the foot of the table, Cheadle, in penultimate position on 194 points, and Birkenhead Park, 10th with 200, meet to decide who goes into Division Two.

Riding high at the top of the Second Division, Irby need just two points from their home game against struggling Hale Barns to clinch the championship in their 60th anniversary season. Grappenhall are already assured of promotion.
