Unbeaten LSH march on

LIVERPOOL ST HELENS’ excellent win over Merseyside rivals New Brighton extends their unbeaten run to four games as they mount a challenge at the top of North Two West.

They will however, have to do the same again if they are to match the magnificent start made by the LSH third XV in Miller Homes Division Four West. Kicking off with a comfortable win at Southport and with a 27-10 victory over Ormskirk last Saturday they are now unbeaten after eight games.

Skippered by long-time club-man and stand off John Dillon, the thirds travel to Warrington this week.

Meanwhile head coach Paul Woodward is focussing on LSH’s return encounter at Wilmslow, where the Moss Laners were successful in the Intermediate Cup.

“That win counts for nothing,” he said. “By all accounts they will be stronger this time. But we know what we have to do and there’s no reason why we can’t go and do it.”

Prop Tommy Jackson is an injury doubt.

Woodward was delighted with the performance against New Brighton, but insisted: “This side is still in the development stage with a nice mix of youth and experience beginning to come together.”

NEXT GAME: Wilmslow v LSH, North Two West, Saturday.
