WIDNES maintained their excellent run with their sixth win in seven games at the top of South Lancs/ Cheshire One with a 55-3 thrashing of Vagabonds (IOM) to go second. They led 10-3 at half-time with tries by Mark Sibson and Gareth Riley, but let rip in the second half scoring 45 unanswered points.
Kevin Leadbetter set the standard early on scoring 52 points in his first two matches, but even he has been put in the shade of late as centre Mark Sibson, Gareth Riley, along with brother Andrew have been grabbing the headlines with their try-scoring exploits.
Lee McDermott’s side have a blank weekend this Saturday, but have a cracking home game with fourth-placed Bowdon on November 15.
Elsewhere, both the Second and Third teams are handily placed in their Miller Homes leagues and Halbro Cup competitions, whilst the fourth team are making steady progress since re-forming after an absence of 15 years.
