Widnes step into unknown

FOLLOWING on from their emphatic win over Bowdon last weekend, Widnes turn their attention to this Saturday’s EDF Senior Energy Vase game with North Ribblesdale at Heath Road.

It is a step into the unknown for Lee McDermott’s side who are in a rich vein of form, with only one defeat this season.

Not much is known about North Ribblesdale who play in Yorkshire Two. They lost their last game at Moortown, and a glance at the table shows that they lie in fourth spot with 10 points from nine games played so far.

Widnes have nothing to fear though, and with the Riley brothers – Gareth and Andrew – scoring for fun at present, they will be disappointed if they do not progress further in this competition.

NEXT GAME: Widnes v North Ribblesdale. Heath Road, Saturday (kick-off 2.15pm).

MeanwhileCollegiate XV make the testing trip to Hutton in the fourth round of the EDF Junior Vase after their victory over Knutsford last weekend.
