WIDNES secured their first win at Hoylake in three years to maintain the pressure at the top of the South Lancs/Cheshire 1 league table.
They built up a 14 pts – nil lead at half time courtesy of two converted tries from Phil Glover and Kevin Leadbetter.
At the beginning of the second half, Leadbetter repeated the dose with a second try, before adding the conversion and a penalty.
Hoylake replied with a penalty on the hour mark, and a late converted try made it 24-10.
