Widnes’ season decider

WIDNES have a crucial South Lancs/Cheshire 1 clash with Cheshire neighbours Winnington Park on Saturday.

The fixture could well determine how their half-term report will be written and show what lies ahead for both teams this season.

A victory will send them into the second half of the season in great spirits, but a defeat could put a big dent in their league and cup ambitions.

They also have a ‘four pointer’ on the horizon against leaders Burnage, so this weekend’s game is absolutely crucial in shaping their season.

Last week’s 19-10 cup win at Hoylake, ensures that they live to fight another day in the EDF Senior Energy Vase, and with only four home league games to look forward to between January and April, they will be keeping their fingers crossed for a home draw to help keep the club coffers ticking over.
