Award-winning performance from Radford

MARY RADFORD has catapulted herself to an award-winning performance.

The West Cheshire AC race ace completed the final round of the North Staffs Cross Country League in pole position for the over-60s women’s age category.

Radford finished 80th overall in the final women’s race of the four-round series held at Westwood High School, Leek, which was her best result of the campaign.

She had previously finished 103rd in the opening round at Lyme Valley, Newcastle-under-Lyme; 124th at Park Hall Country Park, Stoke-on-Trent, and 110th at Stafford Common in the third round.

Jeff Kettle fired on all cylinders for West Cheshire AC at the third round of the Borders Road Running League.

The purple-vested member covered a five-miles course from Mold Sports Centre in a time of 28 minutes 35 seconds to secure 18th position.

He was supported at the event by Dave Tiernan, who merited 59th position after posting 30:55, ahead of over-55 veteran Bob Benson who clocked 31:25 for 65th position and fourth place in his age group.

Gary Withers continued his Borders League campaign by claiming 73rd position and sixth spot in his over-50 age category in a time of 32:04.
