WIDNES went to the top of South Lancs/Cheshire One on the back of seeing off Winnington Park and Wirral overcoming previously unbeaten Burnage.

Widnes produced some outstanding defence combined with another hat-trick from in-form winger Gareth Riley to see them home.

A Riley try, converted from the touchline by brother Andrew who also kicked a penalty, gave them a 10-0 lead with the pair repeating the feat to make it 17-3.
