THE postponement of the inaugural DuLally Trophy match between New Brighton and Birkenhead Park last weekend was a blow to both clubs.
Prospects do not look good for the New Brighton v Broughton Park North Two West League match on Saturday unless there is a big change in conditions.
Lack of games is worrying for clubs who rely on bar revenue to help their finances. Apart from a low key Boxing Day game the Blues have not played at home since December 6 and after Broughton Park the next fixture at Hartsfield is not until January 31 when Altrincham Kersal are the visitors.
Brighton could then get a run of three home games if the Broughton Park affair is re-scheduled.
“All clubs will be feeling the pinch through lack of activity,” said Brighton general manager Guy Hughes.
Meanwhile the weather has hit the start of the Wirral Floodlit Cup competition. The Wallasey v Oldershaw tie due at Hartsfield this evening is off. No new date has yet been agreed.
