ST HELENS coach Mick Potter felt his players produced their best spell of the season in the 68-22 demolition of Castleford.
The engage Super League leaders ran in 12 tries in a one-sided encounter at The Jungle to extend their advantage at the top to four points.
Potter’s side were 32-0 up within 23 minutes with Kiwi forward Tony Puletua, the impressive new signing from Penrith, having already claimed three of his four tries.
Potter said: “They were very good and I think we executed play probably the best we have done this year in that stint.
“Tony Puletua wasn’t doing anything different to what he has been doing but he was too big, too strong for a few guys.
“He is a pleasure to watch but I would hate to be standing in front of him.
“He has been tremendous for us and the guys around him are appreciating playing with him.
“He is a good talker, a good leader and everything you want in a new recruit.”
Jon Wilkin also helped himself to a hat-trick and stand-off Leon Pryce touched down twice in another impressive performance.
