ANDREW CLAGUE was first home for West Cheshire AC at the Shell Chester Half Marathon.
He braved the wet and blustery conditions to complete the 13.1 miles event organised by West Cheshire AC and Cheshire West and Chester Council from Chester’s Roodee.
Clague secured 23rd position for a time of one hour 20 minutes 30 seconds and headed his club’s team who finished 15th.
Clague was supported by Max Woods (82nd in 1:27:55), Christopher Cain (205th in 1:35:17), and Darryl Pickering (220th in 1:35:46).
Brian Beattie won the over-65 men’s title after finishing 408th overall with a time of 1:41:49, ahead of Clive Sykes (417th in 1:42:13), James Sillett (516th in 1:45:06), Peter Weir (525th in 1:45:15.
Rebecca Williams was West Cheshire AC’s first lady finisher, completing the route in 1:38:51 for 28th position and heading a duo who earned the club fourth place in the ladies team event.
FIXTURES this weekend include the North of England Under 15 and Under 17 Track and Field Championships at Gateshead on Saturday and Sunday. The Cheshire 5k Road Race Championship is incorporated into the Peter Lowe Memorial Hollins Green 5k on Saturday, May 30.
