ORRELL RED TRIANGLE skipper Chris Riley is confident his team can challenge league leaders Wigan for the one promotion spot open to First Division clubs this year.
The Winstanley Road side trail the Bull Hey outfit by 38 points going into the second half of the league campaign, but Riley reckons the absence of influential professional Zahoor Elahi goes some way towards explaining his team's form in the first month of the season when they suffered their only two defeats to date.
"It was a big blow," he conceded. "I played alongside Zahoor for three seasons at my previous club Cherry Tree in the Ribblesdale League and I saw the effect he had on young players there."
"Our upturn in fortunes has revived the club," he said. "Now, getting into the Premier League is the ultimate goal," he added.
