Wavertree move to top of the table

WAVERTREE sneaked home by five runs at Whitefield to step over them into top place in the Bromborough Paints Merseyside and Southport Alliance.

Neil Clarkson took 4-19 for the winners and Nareen Ashraf 6-30 for Whitefield in a low scoring affair.

Alder went third with a five-wicket success at Norley Hall. Mohammed Masroor made an undefeated 61 and Mark Brick 46 with Andrew Aitchison taking 5-30.

Sean Robson 63 and Kevin Murray 59 helped Southport Trinity see off Caldy by five wickets. Kirk Bunting contributed 83 for the losers.

Mohammed Zaheed 7-57 and Dave Conlon 73 starred for Huyton in a 103-run victory over Birkenhead St Mary’s.

Prescot & Odyssey had 108 runs to spare over Haydock and Parkfield Liscard beat Moorfield by 146 runs with Kamran Hussein scoring a half century and Amir Baig finishing with 4-10.

Maritime held on for a draw at Sutton whose batsmen in form were Phil Frost 51, Mike Rimmer 48 and Joe Harvey 40.
