A STUTTERING display from Liverpool St Helens cost them dear as they lost to a handy looking Northwich side in North One West League.
Dominating the opening 20 minutes they only registered a Matt Cunliffe penalty before going behind in the 24th minute to a converted try from winger Joel Barber. And after that LSH were always chasing the game.
Cunliffe added another penalty after 32 minutes matched by Northwich’s Richard Dale to give the visitors a 10-6 half time lead.
A disastrous next 20 minutes saw LSH go further behind through tries from Dale and Adam Bown, both converted by Dale, to leave them 24-6 in arrears.
To their credit LSH responded well and finished strongly with two tries.
Scrum half Martin Gambles finished off a fine move after good work from Jeff Foulkes and winger Ian Stanley raced over in the left hand corner in the 75th minute.
In a desperate finish LSH continued to press but Northwich were not to be denied.
